Colin (speaks French): Travelling and working in Australia led me … here!

Colin (speaks French): Getting close to our thirties led us to question what kind of life we really wanted. We realized that we needed to bring about a change to get the most out of life.

Allison (speaks French): And that meant challenging ourselves to figure out what we were capable of, trying to widen our horizons to define our own way of life.

Colin (speaks French): My name is Colin.

Colin (speaks French): The idea of travelling and working abroad came early on in our relationship.

Allison (speaks French): After several months of uncertainty, one night, I came home and I said to Colin: “If we don’t make a decision now about Australia, we never will”.

Allison (speaks French): And I know that for us, never really isn’t an option.

Allison (speaks French): Colin immediately said, “OK, let’s go!”

Colin (speaks French): So, we started our year with a 3-month trip to South East Asia.

Colin (speaks French): In Australia, I finally accepted an engineering job for a Perth-based company.

Colin (speaks French): I’ve only just started, but I already see all the opportunities this could bring.

Allison (speaks French): As for me, my network of contacts that I was able to develop while working in Canada before our trip allowed me to meet potential business partners immediately upon my arrival in Australia.

Colin (speaks French): One of the first things I did when I arrived in Australia was to make long-time dream come true: I got my motorcycle licence. I had always wanted to get it, especially because I’d like to go on an adventure with my dad. Just a few months after we arrived, I was riding my new bike along the Harbour Bridge. Incredible!

Allison (speaks French): Australians are lucky to get to enjoy high-quality coffee at virtually any corner coffee shop.

Allison (speaks French): This coffee culture gave us the idea to take barista courses and even develop our own specialty inspired by our country, which is now featured at the local café.

Colin (speaks French): There’s actually a community of Canadians here through the Working Holiday Visa. People are really helpful, because everyone goes through the same process and has the same questions.

Allison (speaks French): On top of being able to visit incredible places like Great Ocean Road, Raymond Island and Kangaroo Valley
