Dear Canadian,

You are receiving this email because you are registered with the Government of Canada’s Registration of Canadians Abroad (ROCA) service.

We received information that Qantas will operate a single flight QF75 from Sydney, Australia to Vancouver on 23rd March 2021. The flight is available to purchase online at the Qantas website. https://www.qantas.com

The Government of Canada has no involvement in the flight arrangements. This is a commercial flight operated by Qantas. Any enquiries should be made directly to the airline.

Dual Nationals

Dual nationals, or foreign nationals with permanent residency status in Australia, need to secure an exemption from the Australian Border Force Commissioner before they can leave Australia, even if using the passport of their other nationality. Individuals can apply online for an exemption on the Department of Home Affairs website. https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/

Flying to Canada checklist

People who travel by air, regardless of citizenship, will need to follow testing and quarantine requirements to keep Canadians safe, particularly given the new COVID-19 variants in Canada and around the world.

Travellers must still provide proof of a negative COVID-19 molecular test taken up to 72 hours before their scheduled departure time.

Mandatory hotel quarantine

Travellers, unless exempted, are required to:

  • reserve a government-authorized hotel for 3 nights prior to departure to Canada • take a COVID-19 molecular test on arrival in Canada • stay in the government-authorized hotel while awaiting the results of the COVID-19 molecular test taken on arrival • pay for the cost of the hotel stay, as well as all associated costs for: food, security, transportation, infection prevention and control measures.

Travellers must present proof of having reserved and pre-paid for their accommodation through the ArriveCAN app. https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/diseases/coronavirus-disease-covid-19/arrivecan.html

Travellers will still be required to complete the remainder of the mandatory 14-day quarantine after their mandatory hotel stopover.
