New Frontiers: INDIGO Pacific

We spoke with Mr Hugh Millikin, CEO of INDIGO Pacific, who moved from Canada to Australia not knowing anyone but with an interesting business idea. Originally from Canada, he started his business in technology and thinks Australia is great.

He tells us about his approach to become a successful entrepreneur in Australia, and what Australia has to offer Canadians interested in taking their technology to Australia. He believes Canadian expertise in the area of cloud computing, securitization of online information, and healthcare such as e-health will be valuable in Australia.

The advantage of investing in Australia is that the culture is similar to Canada’s, and it is much easier to do business with Asia. Mr Millikin didn’t have any contacts when he arrived in Australia and used his “skyline approach” to identify clients.

He introduced JetForm, an electronic document technology that is cost saving for banks, insurance companies and government, which moved into Adobe’s technology and is still used today.

He advises Canadian entrepreneurs interested in investing in Australia to approach the Canadian Consulate in Australia and the Canadian-Australian Chambers of Commerce which can help your business succeed in Australia.
