20 Powerful Girls

Finding ways to empower women is a tough question at the heart of building economic equality in the developing world.

This issue inspired Canadian Farah Mohammed to found G(irls) 20, an organisation which promotes the economic empowerment of young women and girls in the G20 nations.

In the time leading up to the G20 meetings in Brisbane, workshops took place at the Consulate General of Canada Sydney, encompassing several days of talks, meetings, media training, and culminated in a Summit at the Sydney Opera House, with presentations from leaders in local government, business and non-profit sectors.

The G(irls) 20 Australian delegate, Anna Wiseman of Eltham, VIC, presented the young women’s communique to Josh Frydenberg MP for Kooyong.

Learn more about about the summit and this year’s delegates from Australia, Canada and South Africa in this video.
